A Greener Energy Transition for LOU-TEC Vehicles

Véhicule LOU-TEC converti au propane

At LOU-TEC, every small action counts when it comes to reducing our environmental footprint. In addition to purchasing electric trucks for our representatives and increasing the number of Clé Verte–certified mechanical workshops, we have begun converting our vehicle fleet to propane — a greener and more economical solution.

Why choose propane ?

Switching to propane offers undeniable economic and environmental advantages. With a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to gasoline, propane represents a cleaner alternative. By adopting this solution, LOU-TEC is committed to reducing its environmental impact while optimizing operating costs.

To date, 70% of our vehicle fleet has been converted to propane, and LOU-TEC aims to achieve full conversion in the near future.

The propane Conversion Process

Converting a gasoline vehicle to propane involves installing an additional fuel system without removing the original components. This system includes a specialized tank and injectors that allow the vehicle to start on gas and run on propane about 95% of the time.

This hybrid operation ensures flexibility, performance, and safety, while fully complying with environmental standards.
We apply this conversion mainly to our service, delivery, and representative vehicles. However, semi-trailers are not included for now, as their size, weight, and engine design make conversion more complex

Safe Training for Propane Use

Using propane requires specific safety training, which must be renewed every four years.
Recently, more than 50 LOU-TEC employees have obtained their certification to refuel their own propane vehicles, ensuring safe and compliant use..

Ultimately, every action matters in the fight against climate change. By converting our fleet to propane, we are taking an important step toward more responsible and sustainable operations.
